in search for life

how did God create me to live? that's what i'm searching for... hopefully we can help each other out, in our search for purpose, for fulfillment, for freedom, for true life.

wouldn’t it be funny if…

so sam and i went out for dinner tonight, to chopsticks café in yaletown. (i do not recommend the sweet & sour pork. it’s most like sweet & sour pork fat). as we were waiting for our bill, i noticed that the time was up on our parking meter. i mentioned that to sam, and he and i joked about how funny it would be if his car was towed.

it actually wasn’t as funny as we expected.

but we didn't let that get us down. and as we walked to the lot-of-towed-cars-are-stored (i don’t know the proper term of these places), i joked about how funny it would be if we jaywalked and were caught by the police and ended up in jail. and how funny it would be if i had to call my little sister, tiff, to come bail us out.

but we wisely decided not to take anymore risks that evening.

after picking up the car and a $47 fine, i began reminiscing about my history of brushes with the law. actually i only remember one incident. it was the time when me and oliver (the future school valedictorian) were jaywalking right outside kowloon city plaza (a mall right by our high school). it wasn’t even REAL jaywalking. we started crossing in the road, but we eventually merged with the rest of the pedestrian traffic on the crosswalk. we noticed a HK policeman on the other side. i think our mistake was looking at him to check if he noticed us – he did. pointed at us and signalled that he wanted to speak with us. the thought of making a mad dash in the crowded mall crossed my mind – which i, of course, did not have enough guts to do. the officer ended up giving us a “warning” – which was basically writing down our ID number and address (of course the thought of making up a fake address came to mind – but again, i did have the required amount of guts to accomplish this). then there was the time that we were staying at my grandma's place and she called the police because we hadn't come home by 2 am... but we were with our parents... but that's another story

recently people from our graduating class in high school have set up a yahoo groups site – attempting to link all 23 of the people in our class. this initiative has cause me to think about the days of high school, the friends i made, and the impact their friendship still has on my life today. what a blessing to have made friends in high school that still love the Lord and pray for me to this day. i’m looking forward to seeing them again.

a man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

    dear mr.tim,

we regret to inform you that you are no longer welcome at the lee house. first of all you puffed up your own eye by showing overwhelming affection to my cat, then you blamed me and tiffy thinks I punched you in the eye.

secondly, you told noelle that her house was one of your favourite places to visit but you did not say the same for my house. AND you went to visit them before us.

I think the only proper thing is for us to discontinue these house visitations.

    sincerely,

    dorcas lee. =)

i would also echo dorcas' sentiments, except that i'm not a lee, and i can be easily won over by meals at chic mystery-japanese restaurants with small plates.

tim, it's Lillian, remember?? sounds like ICS alums get their cars towed quite easily. on my birthday this year, Joni Chan's car got towed. left us stranded outside a restaurant at midnight.

glad you're doing well and not in jail. watch out though.
